Domain transfer

Move the domain. Keep the time.

A transfer keeps the days you already paid for and adds a year on top. Get an authorization code from your current registrar, unlock the domain, and start the transfer here. Your site stays up the whole time.

Included with every transfer

Your remaining term, your DNS, and no downtime.

Keep your remaining term

Eight months left? Those eight months arrive with the domain, and the transfer adds a year on top. You pay for the move, not for restarting the clock.

Zero downtime

Your website and email keep resolving to your current host throughout. Nothing goes dark.

Transfer lock, under your control

Domains arrive locked by default. Unlock from your account only when you intend to move one.

Secure handoff

A transfer needs both an authorization code and an explicit unlock. Nobody can move a domain behind your back.

Status you can watch

Track progress from pending to complete in your own dashboard, with email updates at each stage.

Your DNS comes too

Nameservers and records carry across, so you usually do not have to rebuild anything.

How a transfer works

Four steps, start to finish

A transfer is a handover between two registrars, not a fresh registration. Nothing about the domain itself changes — only which company administers it.

  1. Unlock Domain

Turn the registrar lock off in your current control panel. A locked domain cannot move — which is exactly what protects it the rest of the time.

  2. Get Authorization Code

Your current registrar issues the authorization (EPP) code. It usually sits right on the domain's own page in their panel.

  3. Start Transfer

Type the domain into the box at the top of this page and enter the code. Your site stays up the whole way through.

  4. Domain Arrives

When it lands, it is in your own account with its remaining term intact and DNS carried across. No rebuild required.

Before you start

Worth reading while the request is still reversible.

What do I need before I start?
Two things: the authorization (EPP) code from your current registrar, and the domain unlocked so it is not blocked from transferring. Both live in your current registrar's control panel.
How long does a transfer take?
Most generic extensions complete in five to seven days, often faster. Some take longer if your current registrar is slow to release.
Will my website go offline?
No. Your DNS keeps pointing wherever it points today until you change it. Move the domain first, then change nameservers when you are ready.
Can I transfer a domain I just registered elsewhere?
ICANN rules generally require a domain to be at least 60 days old before it can move between registrars. If it is newer, wait for that window to open.
Is there a hidden handling charge?
No. The price is shown in the cart before you pay — there is no separate handling charge on top. A transfer also adds a year to the registration term on .com and most other extensions.
